Peru is a country in western South America. It borders Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, and Chile, and has a coastline along the Pacific Ocean. The capital of Peru is Lima, an economic and cultural center of great importance for the region.

Due to its geographical location, Peru is a unique country in South America, with three distinct regions: the coast, the highlands, and the jungle. The Andes, a vast mountain range that stretches across much of western South America, play a significant role in Peru's landscape. However, Peru is not only defined by its mountains, but also by its extensive coastline and lush rainforest. The Amazon Rainforest covers approximately 60 percent of the country's territory, making it a dominant natural feature.

The Amazon River, the richest in biodiversity in the world, also flows through Peru. This natural wonder is shared with neighboring Colombia and Brazil. The Amazon is not only a breathtaking landscape, but also partially navigable by boat. In addition, many local fish species from its waters are featured on restaurant menus.

Peru has three official languages: Spanish, Quechua and Aymara. Each of these languages uses a different name for the country: República del Perú (Spanish), Piruw Republika (Quechua), and Piruw Suyu (Aymara). It is highly recommended that you learn some Spanish before your trip, as it will make communication easier during your travels.

A trip to Peru is also a journey through time, where history comes alive. Peru's cities are a unique blend of Inca relics and colonial influences from the Spanish conquistadors, all set against the backdrop of modern life. Walking through Peru, you will find yourself surrounded by grand plazas, colonial architecture, and vibrant urban energy.

Whether it's the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, the breathtaking landscapes of the Andes, the mystical allure of Inca culture, the vast deserts, the world's highest navigable lake, or the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest, Peru has something for everyone. The country is also known for its colorful traditions, which remain a vibrant part of daily life. And of course, Peru is a foodie's paradise - its world-renowned cuisine will undoubtedly make you a gourmet enthusiast.

With its diversity, Peru offers an extraordinary and varied adventure, making it the perfect destination for any travel experience. A trip to Peru is truly special. With our travel information, you can prepare for your trip, discover Peru's highlights, and find the best time to visit.
