Today, your Amazon tour begins in Lima. Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Miraflores and take you to the international airport of Lima. When you arrive, go to the airline counter to check in and show your boarding pass. Then, you will take your flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado. During the flight, you can enjoy beautiful natural landscapes through the window.

When you arrive, our representative will be waiting for you at the airport with a sign displaying your name. They will take you to the port. You will receive a warm welcome and be taken to the lodge office to complete the registration process. If you have large luggage, we recommend packing only the essentials for your stay in the jungle. Then, you will travel by 4x4 vehicle for about two hours to the banks of the Tambopata River. There, a motorized boat will take you to the Tambopata Lodge. When you arrive, you will check into your room and have a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go on a short hike through the tropical rainforest. There, you will have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat, including amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and interesting insects.

The next day, you'll set out by boat at 4:30 a.m. The trip to Collpa Chuncho, the world's largest macaw clay lick, will take one and a half hours. You might see animals like capybaras, which are the largest rodents on Earth, tapirs, and, if you're lucky, jaguars. When you arrive, you will have a simple breakfast before seeing one of the most amazing natural shows in the Amazon. You will see hundreds of parrots and macaws gathering on the riverbank to eat clay that is full of minerals. You will get to see colorful birds like red-and-green macaws and blue-and-yellow macaws doing this special behavior.

After this unforgettable experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and time to rest. In the afternoon, you will travel back toward Puerto Maldonado. It will take approximately one hour to reach Sandoval Lake Lodge by boat. There, you will check into your room.

In the evening, you will look for white caimans along the Madre de Dios River. You will use flashlights to see them on the sandbars. You may also see capybaras and other animals that are active at night during this trip. After that, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a good night's sleep.

After breakfast, we will hike three kilometers through the dense tropical rainforest to Lake Sandoval, one of the largest lakes in the Tambopata National Reserve. There, we will take a rowboat ride on the lake and see different types of birds and monkeys, including shanshos, cormorants, jacanas, tiger herons, vultures, howler monkeys, sakis, capuchins, tamarins, and sloths. You might even see the endangered giant otter, which can grow up to two meters long, or large caimans measuring over four meters.

Then, we will go back to the lodge and take you to the airport in Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Cusco, which is located high in the Andes mountains. When you arrive, our representative will greet you and take you to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day to adjust to the high altitude, relax, and explore this fascinating city.

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel at 6:30 a.m. to begin the Sacred Valley combo tour. This tour is called a "combo" because you will visit all of the most important tourist attractions in the Sacred Valley in just one day. These include Chinchero, Maras, Moray, Salineras, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac.

After you meet your guide, the tour will begin at 7:00 a.m. During the one-and-a-half-hour drive, you will enjoy views of the local towns along the route. When you arrive in Chinchero, you will explore the Inca site and temple with your guide. Then, we will drive to Moray, where you will visit an important Inca agricultural research center. Experts think that this place was used to help crops like potatoes and corn survive in the mountains.

Next, we will drive to Maras, a small colonial town. There, you will briefly visit the church and traditional colonial houses.

Then, we will drive to the salt mines, called Salineras. There, you will see the salt pools and learn about the traditional production process. The local community still works these salt pans. They dry the mineral-rich water to produce salt. Your guide will explain the history of the Incas and the myths surrounding the salt mines.

Then, we will drive to Urubamba, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch at one of the best restaurants in the Sacred Valley. After lunch, we will go to the Ollantaytambo Inca site. There, you will visit the Temple of the Sun and explore the archaeological complex with your guide. They will explain everything you need to know about Inca culture and the history of Ollantaytambo.

After visiting Ollantaytambo, we will drive for about 2 and a half hours to the Pisac Inca site. There, you will go on a guided tour of this important archaeological site. In the afternoon, we will return to Cusco. Our driver will drop you off near the main square, where you can have dinner. Then, you can walk back to your hotel in the historic center of Cusco.

Your Machu Picchu tour starts this morning. Have breakfast at your hotel, and then your driver will pick you up and take you to the train station.

Day 1: Cusco – Aguas Calientes

Leave Cusco in the morning and go to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. There, you will take the train to Aguas Calientes. The train journey, with its beautiful scenery, is an adventure. After you finish the course of the river through the Sacred Valley, you will arrive in Aguas Calientes around lunchtime. Our representative will meet you there and help you check into your hotel. You can explore the area in the afternoon. We recommend visiting the Machu Picchu Museum and the orchid exhibition. They are about a 35-minute walk from the village. Or, you can relax in the hot springs that the town is named after.

Day 2: Machu Picchu

We will wake up early and take a shuttle bus to Machu Picchu. There, our guide will help you check in by asking to see your documents and tickets to Machu Picchu. Once everything is confirmed, you will enter the site with your guide and begin exploring Machu Picchu. Depending on the tour you booked, your guide will take you to the most important areas of the citadel. You will enjoy a guided tour that lasts about two and a half hours.

After that, you will leave the main site. If you want to add an extra experience, you can hike Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain for great views of the Inca citadel. After your visit, you will take the shuttle bus back down to Aguas Calientes and return to your hotel.

In the afternoon, you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. There, a driver will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.

Today is the hardest day of the Amazon to Machu Picchu tour. We will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and start our trip to Cusipata, where you will have breakfast. It takes about four hours to drive to the start of the mountain trail. When we arrive, our guide will give us information and recommendations for the hike to Rainbow Mountain. During the drive, you will see the towering Ausangate Mountain. During the Inca Empire, Ausangate was considered a deity, or Apu.

After the briefing, we will start the hike. We will walk slowly for about two hours to reach the colorful mountain's peak. You will hike at an altitude of over 14,400 feet (4,400 meters) above sea level along a dirt road between green mountains and red rocks. The route is really pretty, with stone villages and mountain streams.

Rainbow Mountain, also called "Vinicunca," is a beautiful place and a gift from nature. It is located near Ausangate Mountain in the Cusco region of Peru. Many tourists haven't discovered this place yet. Rainbow Mountain is one of the most spectacular places in the Cordillera Vilcanota because its natural colors are kept by the erosion of sedimentary rocks. The colorful rocks are impressive since they are made up of seven colors. The mountain is also called the Seven Color Mountain.

In the afternoon, you will hike down to the tourist van and return to Cusco. On the way, we will stop at the Cusipata restaurant for a buffet lunch. Then, we will return to Cusco, where our driver will drop you off near your hotel. Afterwards, you can explore Avenida El Sol or visit Cusco's handicraft market and buy souvenirs.

Today is a free day to explore Cusco, the capital of the Incan Empire.

Cusco is the oldest city in the continent that has always had people living there. It is also the most important city for travel in South America. People come to experience the city's unique location and ancient culture, which is very different from their modern way of life. You can easily spend a week here and in the surrounding areas. Many of the streets have Inca stone walls on one side, and important Inca ruins are close by. The city has a lot of history, culture, and stories.

Every year, thousands of people visit Cusco to learn about its imperial past. It's a great place to stay if you want to visit the nearby attractions.

You can visit some of the many excellent museums, such as the Inca Museum, the Qoricancha Museum, the Archaeological Museum (which also has a small art exhibition), the Regional Historical Museum, and the Religious Art Museum.

Cusco also has many colonial churches. The most important is the cathedral in the main square. They started building the cathedral in 1559, and it took 100 years to finish! The cathedral has the largest collection of colonial art in the city. Just past the entrance, you'll find a vault containing the remains of the famous Incan historian Garcilaso de la Vega. Other important churches include La Compañía, La Merced, and San Francisco.

The city is also a great place for people who like adventure. There are many outdoor activities, such as rafting on the Urubamba River, horseback riding around archaeological sites (Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Tambo Machay, and Puca Pucara), and mountain biking down to Maras, Moray, and Salineras. You can also visit Incan sites along the way.

The city also has nice restaurants, cute cafés, and fun nightlife.

Today is your last day in Cusco. Depending on when you leave, you can relax at the hotel or explore the city and buy souvenirs. Our driver will pick you up and take you to the airport or bus station. This is the end of our Machu Picchu to Amazon tour.

During the tour, we ask our hotels to prepare your rooms for your arrival, especially if you arrive before the usual check-in time. But this isn't always possible. In this case, you can store your luggage in the hotel storage room and explore your new destination in between.

Please note! If you have purchased pre or post trip accommodation, you might be asked to change your room during your trip.

The type of luggage you need to pack depends on several factors. These include the type of tour you plan to take, the places you want to visit, the time of year, and how long your trip will be. In general, you should pack lightly because you carry your own luggage during most of our tours (however, there are not long walking distances – up to 30 minutes). We recommend that you keep the weight of your luggage under 10 kilograms (22 pounds).

Most travelers use a suitcase. However, a big backpack would be better. No matter what, remember to bring a small backpack for your daily trips (to carry your water bottle, camera, snacks, etc.). It's better to avoid wheeled luggage and use luggage with shoulder straps.

What type of clothing should you pack for your trip to Peru?

The clothing you should pack depends on the time of year and the part of Peru you plan to visit.

If you're planning a trip to the northern coast of Peru or the surrounding areas of Lima, it's important to pack light clothes like shorts, skirts, dresses, and T-shirts. Don't forget flip-flops, sandals, a hat or cap to shield your head from the sun, sunscreen, sunglasses, and mosquito repellent. And don't forget to pack a swimsuit!

If you plan to visit the Peruvian mountains, we recommend taking hiking pants, shorts, T-shirts, and trekking shoes for the days. For the nights, bring sweaters, fleeces, hats, scarves, and warm jackets. You should also remember to put on sunscreen, wear sunglasses, and, if you're going on a route that takes you through certain areas, you should also remember to bring mosquito repellent. It's handy to have a raincoat or umbrella in your daypack in case the weather changes and it starts to rain. For more details, check out the link below.

If you want to see the Amazonian rainforest (Manu, Puerto Maldonado, Iquitos, etc.), the most important thing to pack is a mosquito repellent (20 DEET as a minimum recommended). You should also bring some light clothing with long sleeves and long pants. You can put these into your shoes to protect yourself from insects. You should also remember to pack waterproof clothes, especially if you're going to the rainforest during the rainy season. Don't forget comfortable and closed-toe shoes, long socks, and a hat.
